Music Magazine Front Cover
This is my completed front magazine cover and i feel it is very successful due to the variety of fun bursting colours such as the attractice reds and yellows. I have chosen this colour theme because it connotes danger, hazards and caution, in this case i am referring to the music because drum and bass is very lively. I have also chosen this colour theme due to the red light in the picture which balances the theme very positively. I have purposely edited my photo with Adobe photoshop using the Magnetic lasso tool with minimum feather to place the main image above everything else showing this is the focal point. I have also added a Threshold effect to the original background, i have done this to keep the focus on the main image and the original background due to the fact it was very busy and looked untidy.
There are some flaws to my front page such as the crime tape on the right of my cover not being feathered in properly along with the features positioning which looks very cramped and busy. I personally think my double page and contents page are a lot stronger than my cover, this is due to the fact they are presented a lot more professionally. I think my front cover looks slightly too busy.
Music Magazine Contents Page
From looking at my completed contents page the first thing which attracts me is the very professional usage of different variations and tones of blues. My main plan was to make different tones of blue, black and white for this page due to it being a page which will welcome audiences to the magazine. These colours all connote freedom, flow and peace. I have purposely adjusted the contrast using feathering with Adobe photoshop to express that drum and bass is a very contrasted and exciting music genre. I have added pictures for each page description to make the page seem more alive and appealing to all audiences, i personally feel some contents pages are slightly boring when they are all text based. This could cause magazine viewers to get bored and get the wrong impression of the magazine straight away.
